summer ends with new beginnings

fall is definitely creeping into our bones here in seattle.  sometimes i welcome the cool weather and soup dinners, but i'm also having some trouble with the transition.  having a toddler in the dark evenings and rainy weather presents new challenges on how to keep josephine busy and keep us parents sane.  i'm sure we'll figure out some fun activities eventually.  we still make visits to the park when we can.  j absolutely loves the swings.  it's nearly impossible to get her off!  we are also still making our walks to the coffee shop and end up letting j veg out a little with the ipad.  i'm not proud of it, but she absolutely loves her time with "peek a boo barn".

josephine had her 18 month appointment last week.  she's tipping the scales at 22.5 lbs and  2'-8" tall...both about average for her age.  she's seems intent on communicating with animal noises...moo, baa, hoo hoo, squeak squeak, meow.  we're still working on english words.

this season has been especially tiring for me, because of our "new beginnings".  we found out in late august that i'm pregnant!  i am 14 weeks now and getting out of that first trimester.  i feel like my energy is coming back a bit, but that doesn't mean i wouldn't love a nap every day after work.  this pregnancy was planned, but happened a little sooner than we expected.  we were aiming for 2 to 3 years apart.  baby gibby #2 has a  due date of april 29...just 3 days after josephine's birthday.

so far this pregnancy has been pretty easy, although much more tiring with a toddler at home.  i think we're both generally feeling more relaxed this time around.  we even feel like throwing a little additional excitement in by not finding out the gender ahead of time.  we figure it may be our last opportunity to have this "surprising" experience.
