Josephine and I went on a trip all by ourselves over Memorial Day weekend to Washington, DC to visit my family. I was really nervous about flying alone, but we survived! Probably the most challenging part of the trip was bearing the heat. It was in the 90's and super humid when we arrived. These Seattle-ites just about melted under the sun. Nevertheless, we set out to do some sight-seeing and boating with Mom and Dad.

The highlight of the trip was being able to meet my new nephew (and Josephine's cousin), Jasper James Halstead who was born on April 17. Josephine was very sweet and seemed to understand to be gentle with this very precious baby. Plus I told her she'll get plenty of chances to beat up on him later.
There are more photos on
Jasper's blog.
We had a really great trip and loved spending time with the family. Hopefully Matt will be able to join us next time because we missed Daddy a lot (especially on the plane ride!).
